Holiday Apartment Costa Tropical
Apartamento Las Fuentes 2
Almunecar - Andalucia - Spain

VIEW RATES & DETAILS

T
his new holiday apartment Apartamento Fuentes 2 is located close to the charming and authentica Spanish town of Almunecar on the Costa Tropical in Andalucia in a gorgeous and peaceful setting.

New in 2007, the apartment is in the community "Fuentes de Almunecar" (Fountains of Almunecar), perched strategically on a hilltop overlooking a spectacular coastline and backed by ranges of hills. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with lush sub-tropical vegetation, trees, fountains and waterfalls. Residents are Spanish, British and a sprinkling of other nationalities.

There are two communal pools, one an 'infinity' pool, and wonderful views along the coast and out over the Mediterranean. Both pools are no more than a two minute walk from the apartment. While one of the two communal pools has a daytime lifeguard during the summer, neither of the pools is securely fenced and young children need to be supervised.

The 2-bedroom apartment has a total indoor area is about 85m². There is one full bathroom plus a WC. The interior is roomy, contributing to a light and open interior. Four adults are very comfortable here, plus there is a sleeper sofa in the living room that could suit two more people. The apartment is fully equipped throughout with new furniture, fixtures and fittings. The furniture was imported from Denmark.

The rooftop terrace is very large, quiet and partly shaded, with excellent views of the coast and hillsides. It is an ideal place to enjoy a relaxing meal or sunbathe. The terrace is equipped with a dining table, chairs and sun beds.

Air conditioning and heating ensures that the apartment is comfortable year round.

Please do not bring your pets.

infoFor a larger travel group (up to 20 guests) you can rent this apartment together with Apartamento Las Fuentes 1 and Villa Las Fuentes which are all only 1 minute walk from each other.

There are excellent views from the apartment and the surrounding grounds are beautifully landscaped with trees, streams, fountains and waterfalls. Almunecar can be reached easily by car from two airports: Malaga (60 mins) or Granada (40 mins). There is a wide choice of car hire options from these airports (we can provide suggestions if needed). We provide full information on our favorite beaches, restaurants and places to visit, as well as riding, scuba diving, walks, golf, shopping, etc., etc.

The centre of Almunecar has a classical Spanish atmosphere and has so far avoided being dominated by tourism. The Moorish and Phoenician architectural heritage shows up in the winding passages and cobbled squares of the old quarter as well as the prominent castle. The town of Almunecar also has several markets, some very good restaurants, a bird park, several beaches and a water park, all easily reachable from the house. Modern supermarkets, banks and other facilities are also available.

A car is needed to reach the property and to get around, particularly on warm summer days when the walk back from the nearest beaches or the centre of town can be a challenge. Driving in this part of Spain is not hard, the roads are in excellent condition and places are clearly signposted. In the house we provide a range of books, maps and suggestions for both driving and walking tours.

On arrival, our guests are provided with extensive information on local attractions and our favourite beaches, restaurants, shopping, night life, sports, sightseeing destinations, etc., many of which we have discovered by staying in the Costa Tropical area for extended periods. Our local manager maintains the property and, if requested, can arrange activities and excursions.

For year-round visitors with diverse interests

The Costa Tropical is a very appealing area that has long been known to Spanish holidaymakers and is now starting to attract more foreign visitors. The town of Almunecar maintains its authentically Spanish character while welcoming international holidaymakers, a key factor in our family's decision to invest here. We spend as much time here as possible!

The Costa Tropical runs from Nerja to Motril and is characterised by rugged cliffs falling to the sea, a variety of beaches and a sub-tropical climate that supports avocados, mangoes and bananas.

A variety of holidays can be enjoyed at our apartment, including relaxing by the pool, visiting nearby beaches, water sports, horse riding, scuba diving, golf and walking in the countryside. Spain's premiere ski resort is available in the winter and spring.

This may be the best climate in Europe. Compared to the rest of the Spanish south coast, the Costa Tropical is particularly mild in the winter and relatively cool and comfortable during the summer. There are more than 320 sunny days each year. Daytime highs range from 16°C in the winter to 29°C in July and August, with lows of 8°C in the winter and 20-22°C in the summer.

The magnificent city of Granada with its spectacular Alhambra palace is only 40 minutes away by car, with high quality skiing in the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains from December to April. Skiing in the morning and the beach in the afternoon can be an option in the spring. Seville, another great destination, can be reached in 3 hours.

"Very bright and spacious property. Both pools were lovely and well maintained. The welcome pack of food is very useful, especially given the location away from shops."

"The description of the property were very good and accurate on the Website. "Our kids were excited and had all their belongings in place in 30 minuttes". Improvements: Driving direction were not good enough. We found the area, but the street name and number were not to be found. We needed to phone the site manager to guide us the last 1000 meters. "

"Spacious, well appointed, in an excellent urbanisation & extremely well equipped. The air-conditioning was much welcomed as were the two fabulous pools. We very much enjoyed our stay at the property. It is however a short drive from Almunecar & a car is a must. There would be no point in trying to walk down the steep hill to the town in the height of summer, cos you just wouldn't get back! Also, bring you own dvds, for a night in. If ever in the area in the future, we would happily rent this property again. Professional service from the owner & managers at all times. Cheers!"

"We were very happy with our stay in this villa. The property and its amenities and inclusions felt spick and span and brand new. Everything was exactly as decribed in the property summary on the villa website, so if you read that, you will have a very good idea of what the villa is like. We had a late Saturday arrival, so opted for the welcome hamper and were more than happy with its inclusions. The managers responded very quickly and efficiently to the couple of requests that we had and although friendly gave us all the space we needed to enjoy our holiday. There is a large TV and a sound system, but you may wish to bring your own DVDs or CDs as there was only one DVD at the property. Be aware that the villa is on a fairly steep hill, so you will definitely need a car to get around and the residential complex is quite large although it was very quiet when we were there. The pools were superb, but they are only officially open from noon to 8pm. The infinity pool in particular is a joy with its glorious view down the coast. We particularly enjoyed the villa's rooftop terrace and happily had many of our meals up there. It has a lovely view in all directions (although slightly hampered by rooftops in some places). I was personally a little disappointed with Almunecar itself - but I think that this was just a matter of individual taste. Although it does have a historical quarter and is not anywhere as touristy as the Costa del Sol, it was still a little too touristy for me. But Nerja is nice and the villa is superbly located for day trips to Granada and into the mountains, which we took full advantage of. "
